About “HAE”

HAE stands for Human-centered Analytics and Enablement. It reflects our focus on studying human factors and building interactive systems that help people make sense of complex data. HAE is pronounced hɛ (like heh), similar to the Korean word 해, meaning "sun." The sun is also a familiar symbol at HKUST, reflected in its emblem of "radiating gold." Just as sunlight reveals what is hidden in the shadows, HAE represents the power of visualization to bring patterns and insights to light from complex data.
